“The Dwelling in Fuchun Mountain” is a national treasure painting created by Huang Gongwang. In the 1347, Huang returned to Fuchun with his friend Zheng Wuyung, and after that, it took him three to four years to complete the masterpiece painting. When creating the painting, Huang used different levels of brush and ink to outline the mountain and the stones of different shapes on the mountain. The mountain in the painting was painted with the texture strokes pattern, which has formed a perfect close and distant view with the stones, giving viewers a feeling of very harmonious space arrangement. There are also pavilions, houses, boats, which have made the content of the painting rich and vibrant. This scroll is not only presenting the seclusion of Fuchun, but also telling the viewers the ideal landscape image in the mind of Huang Gongwang after his exploration of nature.
This picture captures a part of the painting that contains a variety of mountain landscapes, from the gentle slopes to the remote mountain. The ups and downs of the mountains symbolize that one’s life starts from the ground, and then enters the stage of experience accumulation, and walks into the mountain until the peak to view the world from the top. When life encounters difficulties, it is like going down from the top of the maintain and experiencing all kinds of hardship and frustrations. However, if we have the courage to move forward, we will eventually rise above the clouds and stand on the peak again.
